Netflix's 'Love is Blind' to be Adapted into German-Language Version

It's increasing its reality TV successes with a German-language adaptation of the popular series "Love Is Blind." The new production is in development and will bring together participants from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland in the unique approach to modern dating. Much akin to Netflix's "Too Hot To Handle: Germany," the adaptation will follow relationships that have formed sans the distraction of physique.

With 10 episodes, it follows 30 single people who take their partners across pods, taking away the line of contact from each other. What's most interesting, however, is the fact that they get engaged to the matched ones without having ever seen them. It is only afterward, with the proposal, that they meet each other face-to-face. As their relationships come into bloom outside the experiment, they will work on bridging that gap from an emotional into a physical relationship as they plan their wedding day together.

Netflix will partner again with its German production partner, Redseven Entertainment, on this adaptation. Both the streamer and the production company are looking for casting for the series—whoever decides to take the leap and try their luck in this very radical dating idea in front of the cameras.

The U.S. original of "Love Is Blind" was released in 2020 on Netflix, created and produced by Chris Coelen of Kinetic Content. Season four bowed in April 2023 with a similarly global success story. It has been adapted, already running in countries like Brazil and Japan, while new adaptations are in the works for Sweden and the UK.

Only months ago, Netflix launched its newest entry in the reality TV dating shows genre: "Too Hot to Handle: Germany". This is a reality dating show series where singles are dropped off in some sort of tropical paradise setting; it further enriched its rich catalog of stimulating and boundary-pushing content.
